Biography
Muhammad Amir is a biotechnologist with expertise in plant virology, molecular biology, and bioinformatics. His work focuses on the molecular characterization and evolutionary dynamics of geminiviruses, particularly those associated with many Dicotes plants/crops, with an emphasis on plant-virus interactions in agricultural systems. He holds a Master’s degree in Biotechnology from the Centre of Agricultural Biochemistry and Biotechnology (CABB), University of Agriculture Faisalabad, and has over two years of research experience in virology. His technical competencies include PCR, rolling circle amplification (RCA), infectious clone development, and viral diversity analysis. He is the co-author of a recent peer-reviewed publication on the genome-wide characterization of the FAR1 transcription factor gene family in Oryza brachyantha, highlighting his strength in computational genomics and functional analysis. His research integrates experimental virology with bioinformatics approaches. His current research interests focus on elucidating molecular mechanisms of viral pathogenicity and advancing CRISPR-based strategies for sustainable crop protection.
